The material is therefore used in demanding industrial applications where conventional plastics may fall short.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a> often referred to as <strong>Teflon<\/strong>, although Teflon is actually a trademark used for fluoropolymer products. In industry it is used <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a> including seals, bushings, sliding parts, insulating components and machined special parts.<\/p><p>The special properties of the material provide many advantages, but <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a> also has limitations that mean that other engineering plastics may be better in certain applications.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-14f38a3 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"14f38a3\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f2834e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2f2834e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is PTFE?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c1fa05d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"c1fa05d\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1c0b125 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1c0b125\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a> stands for <strong>polytetrafluoroethylene<\/strong> and belongs to the group of fluoropolymers.<\/p><p>The material differs from many common construction plastics through its combination of very low friction, broad chemical resistance and the ability to function over a wide temperature range.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a> absorbs very little water and also has good electrical insulating properties. A component referred to as a &quot;Teflon part&quot; may therefore in many cases be manufactured in <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a>.<\/p><p>In technical specifications, material certificates and orders, it is still better to use the correct material designation. <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\"><strong>PTFE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div absorption<\/li><li>good electrical insulating properties<\/li><li>wide applicable temperature range<\/li><li>good sliding and release properties<\/li><li>resistance to weather and aging<\/li><\/ul><p>The low friction makes <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\">PTFE<\/a> interesting for sliding components, while the chemical resistance makes the material relevant in contact with aggressive media.<\/p><p>Exact limits for temperature and chemicals must still be considered based on material POM-C<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d9e2ce2 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"d9e2ce2\" quite different needs.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/ptfe-teflon\/\"><strong>PTFE<\/strong><\/a> is particularly interesting when low friction, chemical resistance or temperature resistance are prioritized.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/pom-c-polyacetal\/\"><strong>POM-C<\/strong><\/a> is significantly stiffer and has better dimensional stability. This makes <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/pom-c-polyacetal\/\">POM-C<\/a> well suited for precise mechanical components such as bushings, gears and machine parts with tighter tolerances.<\/p><p>If the component is primarily intended to function as a precise structural part, <a href=\"https:\/\/scanco.no\/en\/butikk\/produkter\/teknisk-plast-halvfabrikat-og-maskinerte-deler\/pom-c-polyacetal\/\">POM-C<\/a> therefore be a better choice.
