PC – Polycarbonate

  • High strength
  • Low weight
  • Resistant to weather conditions
  • Alternative to glass
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Chemical resistance

Polycarbonate (PC) is an amorphous thermoplastic known for its high transparency and excellent electrical insulation properties. PC plastic offers impressive strength and can be used in a wide temperature range. Even at temperatures up to 120 °C, polycarbonate retains its rigidity and exceptional impact resistance, even at low temperatures.

HIGHLIGHTS OF POLYCARBONATE (PC):

    • High Transparency: Due to its low crystallinity, PC offers exceptional clarity.
    • Impact resistance: Polycarbonate is extremely impact resistant, making it ideal for demanding applications.
    • Electrical Insulation Properties: PC is an excellent electrical insulator, suitable for many electronic applications.
    • UV and weather resistance: Available both with and without UV protection, PC is suitable for outdoor use.

OUR PRODUCT RANGE

At Scanco, we offer a wide range of PC products, including:

    • Extruded Polycarbonate Pipes, Rods and Sheets: Available in standard and custom dimensions.
    • Fiber reinforced Polycarbonate composites: For applications that require extra strength and dimensional stability.

STANDARD SHAPES OF POLYCARBONATE:

    • Polycarbonate sheets
    • Polycarbonate rods
    • Polycarbonate pipes and customized pipes

GLASS FIBER REINFORCED POLYCARBONATE:

    • 30% Glass fiber reinforced (PC GF): This version offers higher strength, better impact resistance and superior dimensional stability. Although not transparent, glass-filled PC is ideal for demanding applications.

Characteristics

  • PC is extremely strong and withstands shocks and impacts better than many other plastic materials. It has approximately 200 times stronger impact resistance than ordinary glass.
  • Despite its strength, PC is lightweight, making it ideal for applications where weight is a concern.
  • PC has an excellent transparency, almost like glass. It allows the transmission of light and is therefore widely used in products that require clarity.
  • PC is resistant to UV rays and has good weather resistance, making it suitable for outdoor applications without losing quality over time.
  • PC can be easily shaped by heating, making it flexible for different production methods and complex shapes.
  • Polycarbonate has good thermal insulation properties, which make it suitable for use in insulating materials and window panels.
  • PC is resistant to many chemicals, which makes it suitable for applications where contact with chemicals is unavoidable.
  • Due to its durability and resistance to various influences, PC has a long service life.
  • Polycarbonate is recyclable, and recycling the material helps to reduce the environmental impact.
